Essential Travel Information

ANGOLA

1. VISA & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
New Visa-Free Policy (Effective Sep 29, 2023): Angola has newly exempted nationals from 98 countries from tourist visas.

Allowance: Stay up to 30 days per entry (max 90 days per year).
Requirements at Border: Valid passport (remaining validity > 6 months), return/onward flight ticket, and International Certificate of Vaccination (Yellow Fever).

Exempted Countries
Africa (14): Botswana, Cabo Verde, Eswatini, Equatorial Guinea, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
Europe (35+): Includes all European Union members (e.g., France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain), plus Norway, Switzerland, UK, Iceland, Russia, and Turkey.
North & South America: USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Panama, Uruguay.
Asia & Middle East: China, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, UAE.
Oceania: Australia, New Zealand, Fiji.

Note for Non-Exempt Travelers: Nationals not listed above must apply for an e-Visa or consular visa prior to arrival.

2. MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
Yellow Fever: A yellow fever vaccination is required for entry into the country for all travelers aged 9 months and older, except for travellers from certain destinations. Please check with the relevant embassy or consulate for the latest requirements. This is strictly checked at the airport/border.
Malaria: Angola is a malaria-endemic zone.
Prophylaxis: Highly recommended for all safari guests. Consult a doctor for the best prescription.

3. CURRENCY
The currency in Angola is the Kwanza (AOA). Besides the Kwanza, no other currency is officially accepted in Angola, although the US dollar is widely accepted as a secondary currency. At the Luiana Plains Camp we accept only cash in Kwanza, USD, EURO and RAND for payment of extras.
